My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising

My Hero Academia (MHA) has only just returned to our screens and already fans have been given an extra treat, another movie! If that wasn't exciting enough the release date is December - this year!!
I hadn't heard much about the new movie, as I had missed the announcement back in March this year. The new movie is called My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising and will be released on the 20th December. I initially thought that it might be a film made up of the MHA series animation to show the growth of the young heroes from season 1 to 4, as some anime’s do this. I am pleased to say that it is not! My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising is an original movie that fits in-between seasons 3 and 4.

SPOILER ALERT!!!

My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising starts with the downfall of 'All for One' which happens mid-way through season 3. The villains seem to have expected this and we are introduced to a new character named '9'. 9 has the ability to steal quirks, which is extremely similar to the quirk that 'All for One' has. At the same time Class 1A have travelled to a small island to practice their hero work and inevitably meeting this villain.
Unlike the first MHA movie you will have to be familiar with the anime or manga in order to understand what is happening. To avoid any spoilers you will have to be as up to date as possible with the anime (watched all of season 3) or read at least up to chapter 121 in the manga.
This movie, like the first, is not part of the manga series. It has been produced as an addition to the anime, but will still make sense to an up-to-date manga reader. Due to this fact* it's likely that very few spoilers will be leaked until the movie is finally released.

The movie trailer looks awesome and the new villain looks extremely intimidating. This movie will definitely cause a stir in the MHA fandom. The only thing that I have yet to find out is whether it will be a cinematic release here in the UK. The first movie was released in Japan and here in the UK in cinemas, where I watched it. I cannot find any information on a UK release date for My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising, so I will keep trying and update you when I can!

My Hero Academia (Boku no Hīrō Akademia in Japanese) it is rated a 15 by the BBFC and the manga is rated OT, Older Teen.
The first movie My Hero Academia: Two Heroes is available on various platforms and is rated 15.

*Manga readers are often well ahead of the anime story. That means that spoilers are often talked about online before they are revealed in the anime.
