Summer Academy 2025 Animation

At the Turnip Starfish Summer Academy over five days you will be taught animation, claymation, and drawing skills including storyboarding, design, build and how to film your animation.

Early Drop off: You can now choose to purchase the ‘Early Drop Off’. For a small additional fee you can drop your young person off a little earlier while the team set up. They will get an additional hour to draw.

Animation (age 10-17)
At the Turnip Starfish Summer Academy you will be taught over five days how to storyboard, character design, build your characters, animate, sound record and edit your ideas! You will use HD industry animation technology to animate your film and be taught by the animation directors of Turnip Starfish. It doesn’t matter if you are new to animation or experienced, we have taught people that have gone on to animate at Disney, Aardman and many other animation studios across Britain! With over 25 years experience in the animation industry this is a fantastic opportunity to work with the Animation Directors from Turnip Starfish.

 

Beginners
If you are new to animation, no problem! We have everything you need at this workshop to get you going.

Intermediate
Done some animation at home on your iPad, mobile phone or Nintendo DS? Over five days explore your animation timing, develop your design skills and learn to use industry software and equipment.

Advanced
An opportunity to explore the ‘principles of animation’ whilst designing and producing your finished animated film.

 

All you need to do is turn up full of enthusiasm as we provide all the art materials and technology for you to make your film.
You will also receive a gift of a FREE turnip starfish A4 hardback sketchbook to use and keep during and after the workshop!

Please bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks.

Info for Parents:
Drop the kids off with us for a fantastic fun time Animating and pick them up at the end of the day.
On booking your workshop you will be e-mailed all additional information regarding the workshop. Turnip Starfish workshops are always run by an experienced and qualified teacher and industry animation specialist. All staff are DBS checked. All workshop managers have Emergency First Aid In The Work Place certificates. Turnip Starfish Limited and its staff have full insurance to run these kinds of activities.
